This sauce can be mixed with a package of cooked macaroni for the very best mac and cheeze. Or pour it over tortilla chips for out-of-this-world nachos. Put it on pizzas, or hot sandwiches, basically any food that needs a cheesy boost.
Ingredients:
- 3 tbs vegan butter
- 3 tbs flour
- 3 cups plant milk
- 4 ounces vegan cream cheese
- 1 cup vegan cheddar cheese shreds
- 1 ½ tbs nutritional yeast
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp pepper
- ¼ tsp cayenne
- ¼ tsp salt
Directions:
In a medium size skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Once the butter is completely melted, sprinkle in the flour and whisk to create a roux. Continuously whisk the roux for about 3 minutes to allow the flour taste to be cooked out and it’s a light golden color. Once the roux is ready, slowly whisk in the milk, and continue to whisk until the mixture is as smooth as possible. Add in the spices and cream cheese and whisk until smooth. Finally, add in the cheddar cheese shreds and whisk until the sauce has come together as one harmonious creamy sauce. Enjoy immediately or store in am air-tight container for up to 5 days.
